Over the river and……off to The Julien.

Last Saturday we got to shoot in a city we have never been to, Dubuque.  Ryan and Jessica had us film their wedding at the historical St. Lukes United Methodist Church downtown.  A sign outside the church states it is the first church established in Iowa….now that’s historic.

The wedding was beautiful and then it was off to Hotel Julien just down the street to start the frantic process of creating a Same Day Edit to show during dinner.  Hotel Julien recently had a complete restoration and remodel throughout.  It was so new I could smell the fresh wood and carpet in a few places.  They did a super job of bringing this historical landmark back to life.  While we were editing the SDE Ryan and Jessica were off around town with the photographer Eric of Elite Images show was cool enough to give me the above picture to show off on the blog.  We had a good time working with Eric and documenting the day for Ryan and Jessica.  Thanks Eric.

It was a fun day in a beautiful place.  Us Wisconsin people like to pick on Iowa sometimes.  You know…. the usual state rivalries that exist everywhere.  I have been to Iowa twice and both times I was very impressed with how nice and friendly everyone was.  I can also tell you Dubuque is a beautiful place.  Sherry and I would like to return someday and explore the historic downtown area.   I think I hear a motorcycle ride in the works for that.

Anyway…..you’ve heard me mention the Same Day Edit a few times.  I’m sure you want to check it out so here it is.
